Actually, with the pointer on the flywheel lined up , you have a 50/50 chance of it being cylinder #1 or cylinder #4 ready to fire.

Tune-Up Specifications

I have a 1970 Opel GT 1.9. My distributaor is out of time. i do not the Firing order or distributor position.
Can anyone help me? please let me know as soon as possible

Firing order is 1-3-4-2.

Hi Chuck, Align the silver ball in the flywheel with the timing pointer (lower right rear of the engine, by starter) That should be top dead center for the #1 cylinder. Now check and see where the rotor of the distributer is pointing. This is where the #1 plug wire should be on the dist cap. Then clockwise, I think, the remaining plug wires, 1,3,4, and 2.
