Titles and Chasis Numbers
The GT chasis numbers were all Bochum assembly plant numbers but were mixed in with all the other production at that plant.
1973 started with OY07NC - 2 944586 The first bit is the GM Division code the next letter the model code the two numbers the body style the N is the engine Code and the 2 is the plant Code. The actual chasis number follows.
1972 started with just a Chasis Model number 77-2 560567 - the 2 is Bochum (almost all GTs were assembled at Bochum) and the rest is the actual chases number.
1971 started with 77-2 265862 same
1970 started with 93 (1.1 motor) or 94 (1.9 motor) at 93-1892645 or 94-1888818
1969 93 or 94 Bochum cars (all models) starting at ** - 1535504
With the similar 93 or 94 prefix for GTs
So the actual chasis number defines the year of production as they were contiguous across all the models produced at Bochum and GTs are mixed in among these number. So a GT with an actual Chasis Number between 560567 and 944586 is a 1972 Model year car - in Factory terminology.
It may have been Titled in the USA any time after that.
Opel was making over 1 million cars a year at this stage so that is why the numbers cover a far larger range than just the GTs - they also had other assembly plants too.
Yours at 77-2 749960 Clearly falls into the 1972 Model year from the Factory but may well have been first titled there in 1973 as they did have a hard job selling the lo-compression GT after the end 1971.
