Unanswered: Clutch question
1. I used a clutch alignment tool and lined up the clutch and pressure plate, made sure the release bearing was lined up and in the proper place and attached the tranny to the block. Should the clutch operate without a cable and if so how hard should I pull on the bar (where cable would attach) to engage the clutch? 2. There is a big spring on one of my transmissions where the gear shift attaches, what is that for? Also a thread mentioned a spring for the lever? Any help would be appreciated? Dave |

Dave;
It would be very hard to operate the clutch with your hands, as that is why you need you leg just to operate it. The spring thats attached to the shift lever is to help it "fall" into neutral when shifting. Gene
