Unanswered: Bolt size-Pressure Plate to Flywheel

I need to know the correct size bolt for attaching the pressure plate to flywheel. I am taking every precaution before starting my engine and want to make sure they are the correct length. I think I over torqued them, I read in a thread from December that 28 lbs was the correct torque and to use lock-tite. Where is a good place to purchase the bolts also?

I think a good place to start your purchase is a Repair Manual. If your working on your Car, you should have all the torque spec's close at hand. Just my $.02

Check out the FSM Download link on the right hand side under downloads. It's the clutch pressure plate that has the wrong torque values in the FSM. Run a search for clutch or pressure plate and you should find your answer. Hth, Jarrell

flywheel bolts

Only problem with using the factory service manual is the torque specs. for these bolts is misprinted and you will streach and weaken them if you torque them to that spec. The proper torque is 18 foot pounds and you want to make sure you have at least a grade 10-12 bolt with the proper shoulder. Thread Locker is added insurance but is not as important as using the proper bolt.

My cable modem died last night at home as I was typing a response, that seems to have been answered in reference to the FSM (which I have) with wrong torque specs.

I still need to know what size bolt to buy that is rated 10/9. Any help with that?

The parts book lists 4 off 8mm X 24mm long - I can only guess they would be the standard 1.25mm pitch as I have an auto trans => none of these bolts on my car!! Sorry.

Torque for them is listed as 15 to 18 lbs-ft.
