If I saw a picture of it I'd be glad to take a guess, but I have never seen a new OGTS Opel clutch before. You really should call OGTS and ask, they are always glad to help.

By "teeth" do you mean the clutch pressure plate fingers? And if there is some type of plastic piece around the ends of them that the throwout bearing pushes on, it shouldn't be there. A picture would help greatly in solving this.

If you mean that black round piece in the middle, than yes, it doesn't have any use other than protection during transport

I agree, I've never seen a plastic part on the end of the fingers on any clutch. If you assembled it like that, I'm sure it would spit the plastic out the first time you stepped on the clutch pedal anyway.
See how a picture is worth a thousand words sometimes?

Did you ask Gil or Dennis? That's the first time I have seen that, but it almost looks like it belongs, perhaps as a wear surface for the release bearing. It is probably OK to remove it, as all my clutches had the fingers without the centre piece. But if you have to "cut it off", I'd wonder if it doesn't belong

I didn't have to cut it off. There was a small metal ring in the back, I took it out and the plastic fell out. I think I will call Gil and Dennis tomorrow and find out what's up before I put it back into the car.
Thanks, Stanley

Opinion, or Knowledge?
The poster who suggested asking
for a definitive answer, was correct. The black plastic ring is intended not only to protect the fingers of the pressure plate during transport, but is also intended to remain on the plate after installation (to quiet clutch operation). |
