Unanswered: Clutch Cable Broken? (e-Clip missing)
If you have to stop at a light, put the car in neutral, stop at the light, turn off the engine, shift into 1st gear. when the light turns to green start the engine and give some gas, your car will move on the starter until the engine takes over. piece of cake, only needs some practice

I guess so... I was just so startled and the speed was very low so I stalled it.
Anyway, I just checked it out (and had it towed home) and the wire is not broken either at the pedal or the clutch lever and it is still connected at both places. The wire isn't broken either. Weird! |

Years ago when I had my first GT, I found it quite easy to do in 2nd gear... in fact, had to often push start it that way when the starter went out and had a time finding a new one (pre-internet and a small town). Amazing how easy it was to push start by yourself!

Thanks guys, I just came back from the garage where I realized the C-clip had gone missing!
I was a little stumped at first because I didn't know there should be a c-clip there, I was thinking "How the h**k does this thing lock against the fire wall?!"... The simple solutions are almost always the best. I read in the thread it's supposed to be a 9/16" E-clip, gotta find a bunch of those now! Stefan |

Since you are in Sweden, I'm sure the metric equivalent is available.

I bet. I'm getting some metric ones. But I couldn't wait so I fabricated a C-clip of my own out of a washer and some stainless steel wire.
After shaping the washer to c-clip shape that fit snugly in the adjustment grooves, I drilled two holes in the prongs of the c-clip, so I could tighten it up when installed. The clutch worked fine with only the washer, but for good measure I added FOUR stainless stell hose clamps behind it, tightened really hard. I would be VERY surprised it the tube moved with all that holding it back. Stefan |
