I guess my question is.....where do I find these type of pins or do I have to fabricate something myself??? Thanks...

IIRC the pin is a tension pin also called a roll pin and can be purchased at most hardware or real auto parts stores. If the cable has snapped I repaired one years ago with a cable from a bicycle. The cable was a little heavier gauge than the original but worked fine, all I had to do was cut it to length. Unfortunately it requires taking the shifter knob off which I've never accomplished without breaking it. FSM suggests that it be replaced with new one after removal.

Thanks Harold,
It appears to be just the "roll pin" ... so now I know what to call it and where to find it.
