Unanswered: problems with 2nd gear when hot

in the past i have had sincyro's go out and it would make the gear grind going into gear with the clutch pushed in. and it would also pop out when in gear. but now i have a problem with my manta's 2nd gear. here recently when its warmed up good, lets say a 40 mile trip one way within that 40 miles, when i have to go into stop and go traffic(when second gear is used alot) it wont really grind, but when i go out of first going into second it will clink before going in. its loud enough to know somethings wrong.and you can feel it on the shifter. and now its not needing to go very far before it will do it. but if i shift super super slow it wont clink... any idea's.... sound like the sincyro ring? or??? i've just had major tranny work done to the gt and would like to know if it would be better to find a used transmission or try and find parts?

2nd gear problem

Sounds like you may have a cluster gear problem. I'm an old drag racer and I believe you should have a spare EVERYTHING . But to answer your question, if you know for a fact the used transmission is ok, then that is the way to go, otherwise try to find parts to fix yours. Before going too deep into ripping out the transmission, get under the car and have someone move the shifter through the gears and make sure it is operating properly and not hitting anything. Do this with the engine off and the car on jackstands so you don't get mashed.

Drain the fluid and look for metallic particles. Will give you an idea if something is wearing out. As Opelnut10 said. Check the trans. Also I had a simular shifting problem and synthetic gear oil cured that. Was not as noisy either.
