LOTS of Bits ......

Welcome to the Opel Community - fellow Kiwi .... and Monza owner!
Where abouts in NZ are you? Christchurch for me.

I looked at this too but you really need ALL the bits from a manual Monza to do this conversion properly.
I guess you could use an Iron Case Celica 'box but you would still have to source manual pedals, linkage, flywheel, clutch etc. etc.

Also I have a sneaky suspicion that the ECU for the motor is different too as the 86 Monza has a four-speed auto with its own electronic controls.

A Getrag 265 Opel Five-speed g/box will set you back an arm and a leg too ...

I find the four-speed auto so good that I would not change now I am used to it. In the later Senators the auto is so good that they get better gas milage than the manual five-speeds!

Get in touch.

i know nothing about these cars in particular, but i know the majority of cars do this, i deal with honda engine and tranny swaps alot and this always comes up when converting to 5 speed. the idle is way off, but you simply unplug the automatic ECU and put in the manual one and all is good again.
