Unanswered: Kent Moore Tranny Disassembly Tool

A few years ago someone (hopefully on the forum) bought a tool on Ebay that is used in the disassembly of the 4 speed tranny. The tool looks like a circular piece of flat steel with 4 half circle cut-outs in the perimeter. Does anyone rember who purchased this item..... Keith W maybe???

I am hoping that person would be willing to give me a sketch of the tool. A friend decently bought a new Laser at work and is willing to make me one if I will give him the dimensions.

TIA

Tranny tool

What is the tool used to dissassemble in the tranny. I bought one a couple years ago that is used to remove the reverse idler gear. Basically it pushes against the wall of the housing and screws out to push the pressed in gear shaft out. Is this the tool you need?

Keith, its the tool used to press off the bearings, gears and such on the main assembly. It should look like a round, flat steel disk (maybe 10inches or so in diameter) with 4 half circles of various radii cut into it.

Hope my description is clearer....

I know that Snap On and Mac make something similar. And they make different comb's of them. I purchase a set. They were not Opel specific. I think you use the size you need, rotating it as neccesary. I'm not sure if the radius of the cut outs are the same on the Snap On one.

I have bought a number of Kent-Moore tools, including the transmission lay gear removal dummy shafts, but not the plate for disassembling the tranny. I had a plate made MANY years ago to disassemble the Opel tranny main shaft. I think I got the dimensions from one of my aftermarket manuals for the required cut-outs, and used 1/8" steel plate IIRC. I am on vacation for another 10 days (about a thousand miles from home) so if you still need the specific dimensions, PM me in a week or two and I'll take some photos with dimensions.

Um, well, I guess I DID buy a correct Kent-Moore plate. Seems I not only used it at least once (to rebuild Kat McCoy's transmission a few years ago), but I even found a photo that I must have posted here once upon a time. Sheesh, I must have lost the yellow stickie to remind me of that...

Anyway, here is a photo of the plate and dummy shaft tools, and a better photo of the plate showing the dimensions.
