Stop!
Don't run your GT without this cable - it has to be correctly adjusted as it has an effect upon the internal pressures that the hydraulic circuits run at and using the trans without it - or even improperly adjusted - can cause damage to the trans internally.
BTW: some other GM products use this TH180 transmission right up to mid-1990's Suzukis so a good auto trans shop should be able to help with supplying a spare, fitting and adjusting it. Just don't say "Opel GT" unless they ask! If they don't know what a kick-down cable for a TH180 "Tri-matic" auto box is .... then they ain't a good auto trans shop - keep looking for one that knows its stuff.
