4-Speed Overdrive Auto Trans
The original 3-speed TH180 auto trans was used behind much more powerful motors - right up to the SD1 Rover V8 and V8 Holdens - so there are internal upgrades available that allow it to cope with over 200 HP and 300 lbs-ft of torque.
However, since you are in Europe, it may be worthwhile to try and find a 4-speed overdrive auto trans from a mid-1980's Opel four-cylinder Carlton/Omega/Senator etc. Later than that and the trans is controlled by a computer ..... These autos have a bellhousing that will bolt on to a 2.2L motor. An auto from a 1984-86 2.2L Vauxhall Carlton would be the best option.

Thanks Jim and Baz.
I will give the original a try and see how these fits together. I am getting closer to get the car ready and I am looking forward to it! When it is ready I will post some pictures. Until then, this is how it is right now... http://www.opelgt.com/photos//data/5...s/Bilde075.jpg |

GT Automatic Transmission
The GT Transmission is fine to run behind the 2.2, and the GT has something on the opp. side as the other transmissions do (detent cable or linkage one) and you have to use that transmission in the GT unless you want to make the change over. We built a Manta with longer stroke crank and .060 overbore on a 1.9 (about 2100 CC) which put out 140 HP and lots more torque and never had a problem with the Automatic.
