Unanswered: Help with Getrag bracket

When my 5-speed arrived from OGTS, it came with a sheet that indicated that a 5-speed or manta 4-speed support bracket is needed for the conversion. I ordered the completed conversion but I guess it doesn't come with these brackets. As you can see in he photo, the old ones won't work.

Anyone have the correct Manta brackets in their scrap piles that they would be willing to sell?

5 speed for manta

I think I need a pair? of those brackets for my 74 4speed to 5 speed manta that I just haven't gotten around to yet. Also is there a differently configured transmission support than the stock 4 speed? advise with parts availability. thanks Dean

You may want to check your bellhousing/block bolts. The one visible in your photo looks a little short. They should engage a few more threads, otherwise could strip out or rattle loose.

Brackets and rear transmission crossmember.

There are two or three different transmission to bellhousing support brackets. Rodney and I spent about an hour one afternoon trying to come up with the correct combination. The ones that I believe are correct are the Manta/Ascona 4-speed or the GT automatic brackets.

The crossmember is another story. You can use an early automatic Manta/Ascona crossmember, relocated about 3 inches to the rear with the automatic transmission mount. You can also use the later model '74-75 transmission crossmember relocated to the rear with the early style automatic transmission mount. You may need to shim the rear of the transmission up depending on the height of your rear mount.

The driveshaft (Manta/Ascona) is an Opel automatic slip yoke with a 28 inch center-to-center measurement at the u-joints. I just had one made and picked it up on Friday. I had new u-joints installed and the shop did a great job. I was thinking of getting another made while I am at it if there is any interest.

Thanks for the reply, I should have everything you mentioned except the early auto transmission mount(hope I can find one) I too purchased a complete 5 speed package from OpelGT source, for a manta but that was many years ago and at the time there was a lot of unknowns about this conversion. Who knows I might even get around to it this winter. Thanks again.

Got them on German eBay, they just arrived. Cost me about $25 for pair including S/H. Hope it was worth.
