Unanswered: Aut.transmission trouble

Can anyone please advice why I can't get my (aut.) transmission to change from 2nd to 3rd gear?

The transmission has been out of the car together with the engine and put back in again. We haven't done any maintenance on it.

I'd look into the shifter linkage adjustment if it work correctly before
you removed the transmission. If it didn't work beforehand, then check
the fluid level. Anything beyond that and it'll have to be taken to a shop
since it's going to be something internal like a stuck valve or low governor
pressure or leak.

Well, before taking it to a shop, check to see if the vacuum line from the base of the carb has no leaks, all the way back to the modulator.
