Gene, I agree with you.
In fact the previous owner claimed he never drove the car in the snow or rain and that he kept a GT cover over the car in his garage. People have told me that moisture build up under the cover heated by sunlight can also discolor paint, particularly lacquer paint.
Also when I first got the car, I had the paint buffed professionally and they stopped the job after seeing that the buffer was burning through the paint in a couple of places.
In my opinion, overall the paint seems to have held up pretty good.
