Unanswered: Weber Carb suggestion for DFO, Rallye BOB???

I have done a little bit of reading on the Sprint Rekord intake, and thought right off I would use two 38 DGVs on the intake instead of the 40 DFOs. I read in post where BOb ran some 40 DFIs. Seems they are not very common either. The 38s you stated (BOB) that one would need to eliminate the power valve and richen the jetting mixture. So my question now is, Is there aa Weber carb available that I could run in this dual downdraft setup that would have electric chokes, and little jetting issues. Or are most carbs set up with the powervalves and either way-they would be blocked off? I am just trying to line up my induction system, and read that about the 38's.

Keith, you could certainly run the twin 38 DGAS's on the Sprint intake. But as mentioned, you'd have to delete the power valve (plug the passage), or it will run pig-rich. The DFO's and DFI's are designed to be individual runner (IR)carbs, while the 38 DGAS is designed to feed multiple cylinders via a plenum. As it turns out, the DGAS also has the exact same bolt pattern, so it really is your only viable option unless you modify the intake to fit another series of IR downdraft carbs (IDF's, IDA's, etc.).

You'll still have to rejet no matter what, but it will be the least painful alternative I think. Torque and response should be a bit nicer as the 38's not only have smaller throttle plates, but smaller venturis too: 32 mm on the 40 DFO's and 40 DFI's, 27 mm on the 38 DGAS.
