I have done this before. 40mm DCOE Webers on short Irmscher intakes on my Manta A. It had very poor low rpm power. Only pulled well from 4500-7000 rpms. It was slower from 0-50 km/h with these carburetors than with a single 38 DGAS Weber on a standard inlet manifold. It was only slightly faster from 0-100 km/h with the 40 DCOE's as well. However top speed improved by almost 30 km/h.

Longer inlet manifolds helped improve the low rpm power however, I tried some Cannon intake manifolds I had laying around. This was on a 1.9 litre block enlarged to 2.0 litres, 1.5 litre head with 43.6 mm inlet valves and 38 mm exhaust valves, and a 280 degree hydraulic camshaft. I also had a higher stall-speed torque converter. Standard is 2200 rpms, mine was 3000 rpms.

Venturis were 28 mm in diameter.

HTH,
Bob
