Unanswered: Carb questions

I'm working on a friend's 69 Opel GT.
The question is this. With the Weber 2 bbl carb do both barrels function on idle and low rev, or does one of these act as a secondary?
I've never worked on a 2 bbl carb.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am rather new to this, but as I understand it, on the Weber 32/36, the 32 acts as the primary, and is used for lower speeds and idle, and the 36 is a secondary that is opened for higher speeds with a progressive linkage. The 38 two barrel opens both 38's at the same time. I am sure others that know a lot more about this than I do will chime in.

All of this is correct. The 32/36, although is a performance carb, is the direct replacement for the solex. The 38 is a pure performance carb. The 32/36 is a progressive carb, the 38 is not. The 38 is like a side draft carb, but, used in the down draft position.

Welcome . . . uh, is your surname Fitzgerald perhaps . . . you know, as in F. Scott Fitzgerald IV!

Saw that Gene had already answered your question . . . again, welcome.
