Unanswered: whistling from the carb?

Ok so maybe I'm bad at searching the forum but I couldn't find anything....

My carburator is whistling dixie and I have no idea why.... It only does it when I'm idling and is kind of annoying..... How am I suppose to pick up chicks with a whistling?

and I also noticed that whenver I hit the brakes the car idle changes most of the time the rpm drops and sometimes shuts off and other times when its been driven a lot the rpm will go up, could they be related?

or should I post the second part somewhere else cuz im stumped....

Well, you found your problem, it's the brakebooster, or the seal where the m/c meets the booster, or a vacuum leak in the line going to it.

Procedure

The proper procedure for eliminating the common vacuum leak in an Opel, is to evaluate each individual part with a deductive process. Part of that approach, includes testing for a vacuum leak connected to the vacuum hose which goes to the brake booster, and making sure that the one-way check valve in that hose also works. More information is available as an Adobe Acrobat download at the link below:

Can you pinpoint where the whistling is coming from by using a tube or hose? Is the choke fully open when the car is warmed up? Your brake booster is leaking and causing the engine stalling while braking. But, you can also have a small vacuum leak near the carb causing the whistling. Check around the intake/carb gasket and the fittings on the sides of the intake maniford.

plug odff the master cylinder port see if it acts the same and yes you will still have brakes just a matter of standing on them...whistling is one of two things too much air being sucked in with clogged filter or not enough filter area for the amount of flow a good system should not be sucking air making whistling sound JMO

thanks D that diagram really helps! My hoses don't look anything like that and probably need to go in and redo them all.....

The whislting sounds like its coming from the in the carb I'm gonna try it again with the filter off but Im not sure thats the problem.....

Before the whislting started I was doing the carb gasket leak check with the cleaner and didnt find any around the carb gasket but I did find one around the header gasket..... all three gaskets had been replaced recently and was just making sure... the gasket on the manifold is that grafite one from ogts as well as the black one and thin paper one for the carb.
