Answered: 38 DEGAS idle speed

72 gt with 2.2 liter engine with 38 degas. what rpms should the idle be set at? also what do different jets do for you? bigger jets let in more fuel?

The carb won't affect what the idle speed should be. Does it have a stock camshaft? That is more pertinent info. Otherwise, if it's a stock cam then the stock idle is fine. IIRC it's about 650-750 rpm or thereabouts.

What distributor do you have? An older 1.9 distributor has too agressive a timing curve to be used with a newer 2.2 engine (which had a computer controlled distributor originally).

Jets do exactly as you say, they allow you to tune you air/fuel ratio to the proper percentage. Too much is just as bad as too little!

Wow, learn something every day . . . good ol' Edgar, I knew he painted and sculpted during the Impressionist period, just didn't realize he "sculpted" carbs too! . . .
