Unanswered: Standard weber jetting 32/36? What is it?

OK I have trawled the forums but help! can some on please tell me and hopefully others what the standard jetting for Weber 32/36 should be for the standard engine not the High compression one. People say it depends on altitude etc, but sorry that sound wrong to a point. Most people drive all over the place. I don't re-jet my carb if going on a trip from the coast to mountains, with a change mid way! Ok so there is a general compromise made by car manufactures to give and overall balance. It is this golden figure I am looking for, I want to replace the mangled solex for a weber, the shop said the would re-jet it for $3 from the standard ford settings. So what do I tell them. This is as far as I can make out the basic starting point from hours of searching but please chip in if you know:

32) idle 50 Main 135 Air150
36) idle 55 Main 150 Air 165

What are the emulsion tubes and what should they be: F50 /f55 ?

Please can some one give all us long suffering solex owners the definitive answer. I am sure this will prove helpful to many owners.

Hi Steve, is that for a totally standard engine? And is 145 the main for both?
sorry I just want to try to fit and forget the carb. With the opportunity of some one who knows what they are doing to jet the thing.

Cheers
Rob

There is no "one" correct answer for all Weber 32/36's on all Opels.
Even when they were new, jet sizes varied with the various Weber series (Models 5A compared to 33b, for example).

I was wondering about the Euro spec. on the Opels, wouldn't they be different than the state side cars?

I think that their fuel formulation is/was different.

Possibly different Dan for sure....I tried 4 diff combinations till got it right...145 on both mains is what it came to....running too rich so I increased the primary air to 170...leaned it out...still maybe a little rich but wanted to drive it a while before any changes....my altitude is around 4200 has some do to with it I think...may go to 135 on the mains to see what happens...will post results gonna do it next week...too busy this week.....runs real good right now tho....I am at 34-36 mpg right now...highway of course..city is around 28-32...so real happy with gas mileage and performance but gonna tweek some more...SteveGT

If you are in Spain, all of the numbers we can give you will not fully work in your area. Your best bet is to find either a Fiat or a BMW shop and have them tune the carb for you. If you find someone knowledgeable on the tunning side of a BMW 2002I, he can jet the unit for you.

. . . air vs. main jetting effect on mixture is a 3:1 inverse ratio, i.e. increasing air jet 3 sizes (150 to 180) leans out the mixture the same amount as reducing the main jet 1 size (145 to 135).

SteveGT: suggest primary main jet reduction to 135, as you stated, for your altitude . . . both mileage and performance should improve. You might try going up one size (10) on secondary air, you're a wee bit "fat" there too, but not as critical as primary . . . use it 75%+ of the time in normal driving.

robinspain: good "starting point" for yours would be . . .

32) idle 50 Main 135 Air 160
36) idle 55 Main 150 Air 170

. . . close to last post's suggestion with small adjustment for Spain's average altitude.

The one thing I found out was the water vapor content of the air.
It's a power killer in the early morning when the dew is heavy.
