The Weber strikes back! I wish I knew where I posted about this problem earlier, but couldn't find the thread. Essentially, my Weber's dripping fuel down the primary.
I've been running a Solex since I've gotten the car running, it wasn't very good, but it idled and ran. I tried swapping a Weber early on, but fuel dripped out of the primary venturi onto the throttle butterfly, so back the Solex went. It's been hard to start and I have to give the car a lot of gas to get going, or else I stall, sometimes I have to push in the clutch again and rev the engine to avoid getting stuck in an intersection.
So a few days ago, I decided to try the Weber again, but it has the same problem, it will only run with the choke on, when the choke opens I can see fuel dripping, and when I open the choke by hand the engine stalls. I've tried gravity-feeding the carb in case it was a fuel pressure problem, to no avail. I thought it might be the power valve, so I trimmed the spring to where it no longer does anything, after that, to be sure, I got a spare power valve, soldered all the holes shut, then put it in. Still drips.
All the passages in the carb are clear, the accelerator pump diaphragm is brand new, the float needle valve seals well and float height is correct. Base gasket is thick kind, and new, carb base is flat and I leveled the intake mating surface before I put the engine together.
