I see...

With what you've got there, I guess I'd go:

Manifold
Red Gasket or Weber base gasket
Heat Shield
Phenolic Gasket
Carb

For the easiest install. Don't foget to open up all the gaskets to the dimension of the Weber base gasket. Looks like someone already ground away some material on the manifold that was in your car. Put the Weber base gasket on the other one for a comparison.

Oh, and remember, small end of the Weber gasket goes on the side away fom the head, for the primary.

You could use a phenolic gasket under the heat shield as well, to keep it cooler, but do you cutting and modifing to it and not the heat shield. The heat shield can vibrate quite a bit and holes in it might just be crack seeds. A little "persuasion" around the edge of the phenolic spacer won't hurt anything, just make the outside edges of it look like the red gaskets.

As to the hole, tap it and plug it. Ideally use a 1/8" pipe tap and plug, but if you'e not going to use it for a port you could just as easily use any tap and matching short bolt that fit. Just use a little teflon tape before you do the final assembly. I completely forgot about that.

Polyurethane grommets are available from OGTS. And check the driver's side, as it often needs replacing as well.

Man O Man, Bucky, that puts my V-6/T-5 Phases to shame. But I'm sure it will help a lot of folks that want to rebuild their carbs. A very nice project.

video requests for 32-36 rebuild

how many want a video?

i have the master done on dvd.i filmed as a mechanic rebuilt my 32-36.

i dont have the capabilities to copy dvd in quantities.

it is not a professional production, but it is in 13 chapters, in about 1 1/2 hours you can see everything..it is in real time..cut into chapters.

you watch this video and you can rebuild a 32/36.

after watching this video ,i was able to rebuild my dcoe 40's on my own.

if only 1 or 2 want a video, then i would sugggest we share my master. if others want copies..we will work it out somehow. i can easily make a few copies on vhs tape, but you wont be able to skip thru sections.

let me know who is interested.so far micah1 has expressed an interest..any others?

if a bunch of people want a copy..i can put it on a cd that will play in windows media player..but unless someone can help me here..i dont have software to copy dvds

cost? $5..should cover it.

pm me your address

you can paypal me in advance or wait and see if it plays on your home dvd first.

I had 3 copies and 3 addresses which i sent today to micah1,jersey opel and nobody

send me a PM with your address if you want one

I will send out the next batch in early january, as i have to use a friends copy software.i can make a master, just not a copy," go figure as they say"

dvd will play on a newer version dvd player-(set top on your TV ).
it plays on my 1 year old sony and my 2 year old off brand, but not on my 4 year old panansonic.its got chapter marks so you can skip if it gets too dull for you.

dont expect a lot, I feel it is a clear picture with good sound, but it is live. in real time. i believe if you watch it,look at a few pictures in a manual, you will be able to disassemble and put the 32-36 dgev back together.
