Unanswered: DHLA40 Jetting

Hi guys

I'm new here, just needing a bit of advise if anyone knows any settings/jetting for my carbs.

Engine: E16SE 1.6 8v Nova GTE engine

1650cc freshly built bottom end with oversized pistons, fully lightened and balanced crank/rods, standard cylinder head, piper 285 cam, uprated valve springs, 4-1 exhaust manifold and ashley competition exhaust system, Twin 40 DHLA 'H' carbs.

This is the only place i've found that people have recommended settings for these so i hope someone can help, even if its just something for me to base them on.

All the best
Sam

This forum is probably not helpful to you, as it is US-based. The last year we received Opels here was 1975! So if your question pertains to the older CIH 4-cylinder engines, we have lots of people who can help you. Not so much with the newer engines!

There are some UK-based websites that might be a better choice as they deal with these newer front-drive cars and engines. Try MIG Performance Vauxhalls - The Ultimate Vauxhall Club and Online Community for example.

Good luck,
Bob

Bob, isn't that the "Pontiac" SOHC engine?

yep thats the bunny but in the nova the dizzy runs direct off the other end of the cam

with that engine it will bolt right in to earlier opels having the dizzy at the front

the 2 litre ones here with injection start at 130 bhp

dell'ortos

if you can find a shop manual titled " how to power tune weber and dell'orto side draft carburetors ". It's the most informative I've seen. I found it through the local library.

Thought my car might be a bit newer than those found on here lol, but worth a try. Thanks for all you input, i have tried a few UK forums but not many people seem to want to share their ideas etc.

I will find a carb tuning book though as that sounds best. As for the pic of that Pontiac engine, it looks similar, but could be more similar to the SPI version of the 1600 engine, rather than the original MPI that mine was.

Anyway thanks for all your help
