UPDATE 1: Dug it Out, assessing the damage!

Okay gentlemen (and ladies) I finally got the Opel moved last weekend and got to working on it this weekend. I cleaned the interior out, and removed all of the pine straw and such. Rust is a bigger issue than I first thought. First off, where the battery box was, the firewall there has rusted through, so water poured into the interior when it rained, and therefore, the floorpans (at least the drivers side anyway) need to be replaced. The seats are shot, as is the carpetting. This car is gonna need a lot of love, and is in need of some serious work. I hope I can have the time and finances to give it the love it needs. I found out specifically that it is a '75 Opel Ascona A 1900 Fuel Injected. I found the plate in the engine bay that states the modeland all the other stuff, plus "Adam Opel A.G., Russelsheim" I also dug out the old motor parts from all the weeds and such that was blown. I think its completely worthless now. I also found an old carbeurator in the trunk for it, although this is a fuel injected model. And most interesting of all, I found out more about its history. It turns out, my Great grandfather bought it and kept it for a few years, before he gave it to my grandmother. I found a note in the glove box, I read its grimy, brittle pages, and it was just something he had written stating that he was giving it to his daughter. It was a very neat find. My grandparents are both behind me on the restoration, as they loved the car, but never fixed it back when she killed it. As far as how she did it, she made over a 100 mile trip in about an hour and 10 minutes. She was pushing that little motor for all it was worth! Pics are at my photobucket account, as I couldn't figure out how to upload them here. Opel Ascona pics

Almost forgot, best treatment for rust? I'm thinking POR 15 a lot of Jeep guys use it I've heard. And, how hard is it to weld in a few patches on the firewall and floorpans? How do I remove the dash or plastic junk in the engine bay to get to the firewall?

What have or do you guys use for replacement seats? Any ideas? The front seats and backseat are pretty much shot. The frames are rusted beyond repair more than likely.
