Unanswered: Need Some Advice

Hello, I am still trying to sell our 1975 Opel 1900 to an Opel fan. I have it listed on the classifieds for $2500. Am very open to any offers anyone might have. It is an excellent car. The odometer reads around 35,000 as far as we know those are the original miles. The car has very minimal rust, it is in running condition. We put on new tires, re-did the rims, a new water pump, and new hoses. We have enjoyed driving the car around. It is a 4-speed with fuel injected with the best manifold made. We are wanting to sell to get a camper. We wanted to take it to the Opel Nationals in September, but we have found a camper we want and need to sell the Opel for a down payment. I have attached pictures for you to look at. Again, if you are interested and would like to make an offer please let me know. You never know we might sell it to you I have more pictures listed under Forums - Introductions - I Just Aquired a 1975 Opel. Also, if you can think of any other place I can post my car for sale that would be great. Thanks for the help.

Love the car, but money and space are two things I have very little of right now. Hope it goes to a good home.

That really is a great car and $2500 is a very fair price. Time, money and space are too tight right now for me to jump on this great deal for a great car.

It will be a great car for whoever purchases it. I don't think you will find too many cars kept in this condition.

Trunk Mat

We do have the mat for the back of the car. I just never put the picture in here because I wanted to show how good of shape the trunk is in. Here is a picture with the mat in the trunk.

How well preserved is the top of the back seat, and the area under the back window? Also can you provide some shots of the rusty areas to gauge how extensive it is on the lower quarter panels? I believe you sent me some pictures of the battery tray area at one time (I've since misplaced them), and potentially-interested buyers would likely want to see that area as well since it is so prone to rust in these cars.

I like 'em, but I've decided the next Opel I purchase (IF I purchase another one) needs to be as rust-free and darn near perfect as possible. I don't want another GT, and I have a nice Manta or two already. Wagons are out because my wife can't get past her childhood images of them as gypsy cars . Kadetts are off my radar for similar reasons that I don't want another GT (I'd just as soon drive my tractor or a wheelbarrow). OK, so maybe that was a bit harsh! So, that doesn't leave me much. I like the look of the 1900 sedans and I'd be willing to pay the right price for the right car.

The kicker for me is that I don't care about mechanicals - I have a newly rebuilt engine ready for gaskets that could drop right in. My dream car would be a perfect body and interior with no drivetrain. Buy it cheap, drop it off at a shop for paint (NOT rust repair), install one of the drivetrains I already have, and DRIVE it. I'm nearly there with one of my Mantas, so perhaps when I have it back on the road the way I want it my fever will subside!

Sometimes, I feel the urge to sell ALL the cars and parts I have (which is a LOT now) and find the perfect one to DRIVE and enjoy.

Todd

I understand what you're saying. However, I enjoy building them more than even driving them.

How could anyone possibly relate this to a Gypsy Wagon????

The back panel under the window is fine. I will take pictures of it tonight. Of course it is showing its age. It has never been replaced. There is 3 cracks on the front dash also. Under introductions - I just aquired an Opel. I have more pictures on there of the battery tray. I think they are on page 5.I have tried to put them on again but it won't let me becuase I aleady have them on here. I have added on here a picture of under the hood. Yes, there is rust. It is nothing thru, it's just on the surface. I will try and take a closer picture so you can get a better idea. I have no reason why it is under the hood and not on top of the hood. I will get the other pictures you requested taken tonight and will post tomorrow.

If there are any other pictures you would like taken please let me know. Also if you want to give me your phone number I can have my husband call you and answer all your quesitons.
Thanks

Haven't had any luck selling here. Will be putting on e-bay this week. This would make a great everyday driver for someone. Thanks for the space on here.

1975 opel Ascona

After reviewing the Opel GT classified adds, I just sent you an E-mail about this car, based on what I read on this thread it is a very close match to what I am looking for. Like most folks, I have very little available cash but we do have a nice 23' 2003 KZ "Coyote" camper that I would like to replace with your Opel. I don't know if this is the type camper you are trying to get, but if you think you might be interested, let me know, I could provide detailed photos and specific information about what kind of Opel plus cash arrangement could be made for the trailer. Let me know if this is something you would be interested in, at his point there are a lot of details that would have to be worked out, but it does not hurt to ask
