That was a very fun little "ride" we went on there! I don't know just what kind of racing you call that, but it looks like something I'd be into! That thing really goes, I doubted it was one of those Opel engines I'm familiar with. So, I noticed the next video ...
Which showed the car being constructed. That is a very nicely built car. When they first panned over the piston tops, I knew something was up... That does it. We are absolutely wasting our time with these dumb two-valve-per-cylinder heads. Somehow we gotta get these four valve conversions popular, affordable, and do-able! What else did we notice? Dry sump oiling. Crank triggered ignition. Multi-disc clutch. Nice con rods! What the heck crank is that, and would whoever built the header please come to Montana for a week? I don't know what kind of trans that was. Whatever it is, it is very close ratio and doesn't mind being yanked on! I'm impressed. Rear end looked kind of stock, surely must be beefed up internally to take that power? If I could get my hands on one of those cylinder heads I would be in big, big trouble. I love trouble...

150 Grand? No kidding? Whoa, I don't think we can join that club. But I still want a cylinder head.

Sequential straight-cut dog-style tranny plus custom adapter...$15-25k depending on the brand. Flywheel and triple disc clutch about $2500. Big AP brakes throughout ($$$), adjustable blade-type front sway bar (about $1500)...and so on. Yea, nothing cheaply done from what I could see! |
