A cousin for "Green Eh"
Only a complete idiot would drive 1150km on a January weekend from Ontario to Michigan and back to bring another Opel home....
Yup, that's me! I bought a '74 Sportwagon on Evilbay a couple of weeks ago (yes I know it's titled as a '75, but it is a '74, built in 11/73), and this weekend was time to go fetch it. The main reason I bought it (like I need a reason to buy Opels) is that it is signal green, the same as a '74 Manta I already own (the one in the shop covered in dust), and the opportunity to have a 'matching pair' was just too good to pass up. As it was, I probably paid a little more than the car is really worth, but that's how it goes, and after 3 times through Ebay, I just wanted to get it over with. Anyway, here's a couple of pics to show her off... |

More like a bunch of bad touch-up work, I'll have a better idea once I wash all the grime and crap from the road-trip off....just have to wait until it gets above freezing...(probably around March with my luck!)...

Green Beast
Does the beast run? I dont remember if the ebay ad said it ran or not. I had considered bidding on it but it went for more than i wanted to pay. Plus a long drive from MN, high gas prices, winter, cold, and with no extra time off to pick it up. I had to pass. Good luck on your new project.

It runs....kinda....
P/O...(one of them) replaced the mechanical fuel pump with an electric one, ty-wrapped to the coil ![]() It starts on 3 cylinders, then no.4 joins the party after a couple of mins....plugs and points needed for sure... I figure it will take me about a week to undo all the P/O fixes and get it well enough to pass a safety...it's just finding that week, there is a long list of projects in front of it! |

If it was out here I would have remembered it, but, I didn't move to Snellville until 1979. So, this little guy could have moved on before I got out here. Although, there's a guy in Conyers that would have worked on it for sure. He's an ex-local Buick/Opel mechanic. Used to work at Hanson Buick in Decatur, then moved out to Conyers to start his own shop. Even RallyBob knows him.

Color reminds me of a car I painted about 2 years ago. 1996? Acura Integra. Everyone called it "Mountain Dew Green". A lot like this..

Rob,
I bought a brand new Opel Sport Wagon in signal Green in Jan. 1975! I loved that car! Drove it till 1986 when the sub frame was letting go and the motor came out and went into a 1968 Kadette fast back I had found. I will look in my basement to see if there are any interesting parts I salvaged from it before I junked her and donate them to your project! Last edited by tekenaar; 01-29-2008 at 12:18 PM.
