Hi Chris,
Unfortunately the B series chassis never made it to N. America officially, so we never had the chance to play with 400's, Manta or Ascona.
There is an active forum based in Ireland which will have all the info you will need... Manta 400
There is also another which I think is www.vxopel.com/
rgds, Rob.

a bit upmarket for here the site was for cars sold in the states before 75 but has developed a bit since then but is still about a 99% north american membership

the 400's were never sold over there as far as i know but half of the members would rip your hand off for one

there are a few on site who will know but they will still be having their breakfast coffee , you should get a reply soon

welcome to the site btw

Chris;
It would have been nice to have had all the models you (Europe/UK) got, but, GM thought they were too nice for us to have...

Chris,

I'm on VXOPEL too

There are actually 2 spoiler types used on the Ascona, the SR and i2000 models use a shallow rubber spoiler but the 400's use a deeper spoiler that from memory was rubber.......however finding one now could be like searching for Rocking Horse droppings.

I know of a couple of companies doing them, M-99 and Smith and Deakin should be able to help you out.

As far as I know all the original Ascona 400's had a complete fiberglass bootlid with the big integrated spoiler, as well as the fiberglass bonnet and airdam and side skirts. Competition models also got the big fender flares. It's possible that the road cars (the ones without the fender flares) got a spoiler stuck onto the standard boot, but I doubt it, I've never seen it. Maybe someone else knows definitively. Irmscher had a rubber spoiler that was the same style as the 400 spoiler, though it wasn't quite as tall.
I still have the rubber i2000 spoiler off my rally car, though it was damaged, along with the bootlid, after a slight incident *ahem* with a tree. That was when I put the Ascona 400 body kit on the car.
