Unanswered: Metal vs. Plastic Grill

Debating on getting a metal grill for my 2 door Ascona to replace the plastic one my car came with. Any opinions or input?

Besides the different look, be aware that the mounting is different as well, so you'll need to make new mounting tabs. And IMO, the later '74-'75 plastic grills allow more air into the radiator by virtue of a more 'open' design.

I've typically always put the plastic grills into the older cars in fact. I'm still unsure as to whether I will put a plastic grill into my '72 wagon. I may leave this car 'as is' since it is an original unmolested example (for now!).

I prefer the late model plastic. Plus, those aluminum ones get dinged so easily.

Your car should have a plastic grill, if you're just looking for one in better shape, I have one or two here. Let me know.

Mine is perfect except for one little piece is chipped off. I'm thinking I can sand it down and glue a piece of plastic in there then paint it. It's one of those little things that really bothers me even though the grill is fine otherwise.
