No, I know he has a Ascona Sedan. But, contrary to what some people think, the weber adaptor used on a Manta/Ascona then putting the stock Opel aircleaner set up on it does clear, just barely. My wife's Sportwagon has this on it. As Tony says, she doesn't like that sucking sound when you put your foot into a weber...

If you're going to use the JAM Engineering set up, I seriously doubt that you'll have any clearance issues

. . . are you thinking GT, Gene? . . . don't think there are any clearance issues in an Ascona/Manta, regardless of what adapter is used.

I you want to make the weber look like it came from the factory use the weber adaptor that allows the use of a central stud/ long bolt to hold down the carb. Take the stock opel air filter housing and replace the oval flange with a round one to fit the weber adaptor. you use a center stud/bolt to hold down the housing with a 6 inch bar with a hole drilled dead center and locked down with a spring washer or self locking nut. Now you can connect the heat riser to the filter housing and the fresh intake to the outside air intake.
Open the hood and it looks stock... with an easy to find filter. Ron Last edited by tekenaar; 02-18-2009 at 05:11 PM. Reason: webber? flang? easy and find? |

Ok I guess I'll order the adapter since it clears. Although I already ordered the Weber air cleaner and replacement filter. I'll just have to try both and see for myself but I'd much rather have it look stock.
Edit: I just ordered the adapter from JAM Engineering (Part #99004.351). I'll post up some results here next week. Last edited by 74Opel1900; 02-18-2009 at 01:40 PM. |
