Here's my 75 Sportwagon. At this point it's stock except for Pertronix ignition. However, I have a front air dam on the way for it and I'm considering a Getrag 5-speed. And now you guys have got me thinking about lowering it....they really DO look sharp lowered.

Ascona;
There's a KAMEI airdam on the German Ebay right now, here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ory=40241&rd=1 Just be sure to e-mail the seller first and find out about if he/she will be willing to ship to the US. I can help get it shipped here, if need be. |

if I ever get all the parts I need to build my Mantascona I'll be lookin' for a Manta frt. dam. I was thinkin' if I got a shell w/o a motor or tranny, I would put a 320i motor in it. I have 3 320i motors w/3 5-speeds & one 4 speed. I would throw on one of my 2002 carb. intake manifolds, a weber, & of course a 5-speed. Last edited by ascona; 12-31-2003 at 05:29 PM.. |

Otto's 1100 mile '75 Ascona A ![]() My '69 Kadett, which I drove back to Texas from Seattle a couple of months ago and is also in my gallery, had just over 26K original miles on it, though now it has just over 30K. It has already been to Houston and back for our Fall OAA meet since my trip back from Seattle . . . well over 3,000 miles in the space of about 3 weeks, on POINTS and partly on original Solex, no less! So how about that contrast photo of the Lex compared to the
Opel... One 2002 Lexus IS300, with TTE (Team Toyota Europe) springs (and other assorted go-fast goodies). And one 1975 Opel Ascona SportWagon, with the engine at the machine shop, and everything else in the back (including the tranny, spare parts & Bosch EFI): |

That odometer went around the block once already, right? I had dreams a couple of years ago that I was on the dealer lot buying another brand new Opel Ascona. Since I got mine 2 years ago from Ca....the dreams have disappeared. IF YOU EVER DECIDE TO SELL THE '75, EMAIL ME!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE A HEATED/CLIMATE CONTROLLED BAY WAITNG FOR THAT CAR.I WILL TAKE OUT ANOTHER HOME EQUITY LOAN. I AM NOT KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Last edited by ascona; 12-31-2003 at 07:45 PM.. |

By the way Otto....I'm still envious over that red Ascona...and I'd like to know how you got that guy to end the auction early. I wanted that car too.
I bought a two-door Ascona coupe in the Spring that has 45,000 original miles. It sat for 8 years and I just got it running last weekend...but it will require a great deal of additional work to make it roadworthy.

OK, for the FINAL time, here's the story. I purchased this "never titled until 3/12/2003", "never registered anywhere" car from the original, Akron, Ohio dealer in July 2003 and titled and registered it (2nd title, 1st registration (plates) ever) in Texas in September. The original dealer, now 79 and retired, took this untitled car, built in 3/75, off his showroom floor and put it in storage for 28 years until he titled it, specifically to sell it, in March of 2003. NOTHING has been "restored" or altered on this car save the "Rallye gauges" set and tach (all pieces also date-stamped 3/75), which I found in the trunk after the car's delivery here. I changed the resonator, which was holed by rust (they DID start and run the car for a bit several times each year), for an NOS "Rallye" piece I found in NC. I'm happy to say that I've also located and purchased a pair of Bosch Rallye lights for it in Germany, which I plan to install soon. The car came with no radio (uncut dash) and I don't plan on changing this. This car is SO original that it still has all the factory assembly stickers, stamps and grease pencil marks everywhere AND the original glue marks of the manufacturers build/pricing sheets on the inside of the driver-side rear window! It still rides on the original 165SR13, "Made in Luxembourg" radials too. There you have it . . . the WHOLE story! Last edited by tekenaar; 01-01-2004 at 06:11 PM.. |

I knew I had this, but, didn't want to say anything till I dig it out of my ever growing stash of Opel info and tid-bits. This is an article from either Motor Trend or Car & Driver magazine, circa mid-70's. It proves how close GM/Opel actually came to doing this at the factory!
