Motor Mount Brackets

The motor mount brackets on '75 Ascona are different. Does the shorter one go on the drivers side?

Yup, the short one has the wire 'clip' on it too for reference.

Need Motor Mount

We need a good passenger side motor mount for our 1975 Ascona sportwagon. They are different from the earlier years. Talked to Gil today and they no longer are available new and he has sold out all of his used ones.
So...if anyone out there has a good used one please PM us.

Thanks

Vickie

Asking for parts

Baz,

I understand the new rules if I am trying to sell something. But, in the new rules you sent me, it indicates that it is ok to discuss or ask for parts in the forums, and then to post in the ad section when it was time to make a transaction. (See Gary's post #13)

If it isn't possible to discuss or put a request in the forums it sure limits our ability to find parts that are no longer made. Many members read the daily forums but rarely, if ever, read the Ad section. One of our favorite features of the Opel sites has been the ability to discuss and find parts more easily. I would hate to see the Opel community become a completely ebay-like sales oriented place rather than the let me help you out for a parts swap or small fee small family-like community that it has been.

I did think I was following rules, according to the above post, and i did put in the "please PM me" to keep it from becoming an on forum sale. Perhaps this could be reviewed and clarified??

Vickie,

If I understood correctly the real reason was to be able to leave feedback for others to check when dealing with someone they didn't really know, but I believe you may have Baz on a technicality.

I've posted a few items I was looking for and had very little response and I don't check the ads section very often either. I don't know if you can change the preferences of what pops up first but I get tired of the "most viewed" being the first everytime, I want the "most recent". I believe the ones that pop up with the most views are there because they are the default and everyone sees them even though they are old.

Harold

to my mind and how i read the rules to chat in the forums about a part or car you want you need an ad in the wanted section
to aim the questions at /through ?

kind of like

" i need a new near side motor mount for my ascona for contact details please see my ad in the parts wanted section "

and maybe a link to it

the big thing is this was brought in at the request of members who had a big problem with a parts deal done in the performance forum and they wanted some way to rate a seller or buyer so other members could see if they should do deals with a person (obviously they wanted to be able to leave a big -ve feed back )
now we could of just let the site run as it was as the deal was nothing to do with the site but was members doing a private deal
when the dodo hit the air mover we ended up with members leaving because they looked to think that some super dooper deal was about to be done and they could not get into the deal (a big misinterpritation of what realy happened )
we lost a mod again, we have a bunch of folks who think the moderators were protecting said seller and looked to cause mayhem where ever they could which is far from the truth

post #13 refers to things like the cnc air filters where a rough number is needed to see if a batch run is economicl then a price can be worked out and placed in the ads forum not an "I need a " type of deal that you will have to use

as such we are real sorry but there are no exeptions that i know of where a deal or sale can be done or started on the general forums unless they first have an ad to ref to , so no technicality ,no i needs and no arguments
this stands for me until i am told otherwise by the big boss or i am no longer doing the job because of health or time restraints on my part

PS still no ad and there is a time limit i work to of 24 hours before i delete the reference now , i used to just delete and PM but i think i must be getting soft in my old age

I agree with this!!!!!!!!!!! having to click "most recent" EVERY TIME is tiring?. should be a way to make a preference.

Baz,

I'm definately not trying to rock the boat or get by on a technicality. I posted an ad. Now just to clarify, if I post an ad first, then is it ok to bring it up on forums?

Thanks

Vickie
