Gas Tank Sender for a 75 Sportwagon?

Hi all,
I don't post too often. In fact I sold both my GT's last summer and figured I would be away from the hobby for a while. Turn's out I was wrong. I just picked up a 75 Sportwagon for too good a deal to pass up. Its in really good shape but gas tank had lots of rust in it. I'm getting the tank cleaned and sealed but I don't know if i can ressurect the sending unit and sock. I was planning on soaking them in a parts washer and then cleaning up the rust with a wire wheel. If I can't salvage it would any one here have a good used one I can purcahse from you? I'd be willing to buy new one but I doubt I'll find one. Any help would be appreciated.

Maury;
Try David McCollam in TX, he's on this site, he may have what you need.

Maury,

The wear items of the sender can be broken down into 3 parts. The cork float, the sock and the rest of the unit. If the cork is bad and won't float, a good one from a GT can be substituted. The sock is the most problematic after sitting many years. The wire screen is so very fine it is almost impossible to un clog. I soaked it in lots of stuff and still couldn't blow it clean with 100 psi of air. Luckily, the sock can be pulled off the pick up tube to be cleaned or replaced. There is a cork gasket that goes around the mounting flange. If this breaks a new one can be made with a sheet of cork and some patients.

I realize Opels are sometimes enough to drive you crazy, so I guess you were thinking of releasing some mental patients from the asylum to give you a hand, right?!
