Road Trip 2008 - Day Three - Trip Complete

I finished the trip today. I left Tupelo about 8am and pulled into Sulphur LA at about 6:30 pm. The car did a great job, no mechanical issues at all! Total was 1149 miles and 35.49 gallons burned for an average MPG of 32.37!
For anyone who hasn't driven the Natchez Trace Parkway, try it. I got on it in Tennessee and only got off to spend the night. I was like having your own highway. I drove for at least an hour and a half this afternoon without ever having another car in front of me or behind me. Just the occasional car passing me from the opposite direction. Speed limit is posted at 50 but I drove 60 all day and passed a couple of officers without any problems. I got off the trace in Natchez and got on your "normal" two lane roads going through Louisiana. Of course here things were back to normal, terrible roads, slow drivers and tailgaters.
Well, I don't know if anyone is following this but it was a great trip and a lot of fun. I'm really proud of the car and the fact that my modifications all held up to the abuse.

The Natchez Trace Parkway is absolutely one of the best sports car driving trips around. It has lots of nice curves, a smoooooth asphalt surface, beautiful wooded countryside, antebellum homes and very little traffic. I used to take my Porsche up there on weekends back in the '80's when I was living in New Orleans.

Washout,
What a great adventure back home to your roots. From the pre road trip testing to your three days of travel to Louisiana, this log was a video in writing. Felt like I was in the passenger seat taking in the view as you toured the back roads. ![]() |
