Wiring

Posted 6 Days Ago at 11:18 PM by wrench459

Did my first two stage install with a three step retard on Friday.
I was very rushed to complete the install and made some very bad mistakes.
After checking the solenoids for proper operation.....the fuel flow was not checked. It made it through the first round only by using the first stage and some luck. The second round the pop-pop came into play crap! I'm glad the driver had a good head on his shoulders and didnt hold the buttom down on the full pass.

Oil Pressure

Posted 09-08-2008 at 07:32 PM by wrench459

Here's a first for me.
Customer drove in with his 03 ranger complaining about the check guages light and no o/p gauge.
Walked out to the truck, started it up and noticed a slight ticking noise from one of the lifters. Ok into the shop we go.
In the shop first things first lets check the oil level mummm no oil on the dipstick. Two and a half quarts later fired it up still no gauge reading. The emmisions tech told me there's a puddle under the truck.
The customer is a school...

Final ratios

Posted 08-11-2008 at 07:48 PM by wrench459
Updated 08-11-2008 at 08:23 PM by wrench459 (more info)

Changing from one type of racing to another can be a pain.
Case in point I was tring to use circle track methods to figure out the final drive ratio needed for drag racing.
Wroung I forgot that I'm shifting gears there by changing the multiplier.
Numbers so that I can remember
second gear 2.14X3.44=7.36 final.
7,920 inches in a 1/8 mile
The 205/60/13 tire is 72 inches in circ. with a dia. of 22.4
Thinking about a 24.4 dia.tire.
