Broken!
When this site was last upgraded the links to the FSM were broken - the volunteer mods have not had time to fix it yet.
If you buy a Brooklands Books Opel GT Service manual from eBay you will have your very own Manual with that info in it - best $20-$30 you could ever spend! The book with the Green and Yellow cover - try a seach for "GT Manual" on here and/or eBay to find the book. Here: eBay Motors: Opel GT Autobooks Workshop Manual 1900 1968-1973 (item 140112763777 end time May-05-07 07:35:02 PDT)

There's an article here:
http://clubs.hemmings.com/clubsites/...ch/Headrep.pdf (It's not 100% perfect. Example: You are better off not trying to remove the square water outlet plug on the passenger side rear of the engine block, as it is usually rusted in place. Also it is not recommended, that you smear Permatex RTV/Silicon over the block surface -- use copperspray if you want to do that there). There's also a tech sheet, in the December 1995 OMC Blitz, with instructions to help you avoid the common oil leak. And if you purchase the gaskets from an Opel retailer, you could obtain tech information there as well. Last edited by Anonymous D; 04-30-2007 at 03:12 PM. |

If it were me I would Email Greensmurf and see if he still has his original CD copy of the full blown manual with the added stuff. He is closest, Gary is next then Gene (BQS4). The full version is complete and all in a printable format and they include the color wiring diagram that the early version lacked. I think OpelDean has one and EJ as well. Some had a few early videos added to them to fill in the dead space. I'd try Gene, Dean and Smurf for the good ones. On CD is really nice to blow up the drawings and it's pretty easy to read and browse that way.

If you can't get ahold of them, I have a copy too. This computer upstairs is messed up, but the one dowstairs and my sons should be able to burn one for you for the price of postage. It might take me a bit to get it done as I'm still planting and don't get in until after dark. Just let me know. Jarrell
I found the whole PDF, just can't figure out how to upload the sections that are missing at this point in time. I'll try when I get done planting. Meanwhile check your PM box and I'll send on the whole thing tonight.

I'd sure like a digital copy too. I have the original sitting next to me now (at work) but it always seems to be where I'm not.
So, Soy, if it's not too late, I'll PM you for one too. What about uploading the whole file for download? Is there a copyright issue surrounding this?

There were a couple of issues in the download version vs adobe reader and being able to print and view things correctly. Also the color wiring diagram was never there. I know that on some of the CD originals I included the German commercial with the big guy trying to get into a GT as well as the color diagram. Um Jarrell, there is no way to ask this without sounding like an idiot. Did I perhaps send you a CD? If so could you list the contents on it? Knowing me I would have sent a full blown one. The scanned color print is priceless to hunt things down, so is the commercial. Yup, I remember making a bunch of CDs but the list of where they all went is a bit foggy. The only thing I know for certain was sending to the upper and lower west and east coast and several in the middle states. I didn't do the scan of the manual, just added the full color stuff and some filler.

Just one more reason I can say this is the best site on the net. Not the best car site, best bike site, best R/C plane site, best race car site. It is the best site.
Hats off to the guys the run the site and the folks on the site, Opelers are a 1st class group of folks. |
