Question anyone else getting annoyed by this?

don't know quite where to put this but has anyone noticed that you can't right click your mouse on your computer and save pictures in the photo gallery and pretty much every picture on opelgt.com???

this is really annoying because i use to always save the pictures i liked to look at them and compare diffrent modifications to use on my car.

annoying getting frustrated with this as much as i am???

Click on the picture you want to save when it enlarges right click on it and at top left hand corner of picture, it has an little icon that looks like a old 3.5 disc up there click on it and you can save picture of your desires to your hard drive. This is using 2000 Win program. It also has icons to Print and email but I've never have used that function but I know the save function works. Hope that helps or am I not understanding your issue ?

what be exactly do you mean enlarges it,the only pictures that i can see you can click on and actually "inlarge" are the classified adds pics. they are the only pictures i can right click.

to sum things up this is what i was doing untill this happend
1 i would find a pic i liked
2 i would just simply right click the picture
then i would go to save as and save it to my pics
now it won't let me right click the pictures.

sorry if i'm not explaining this good enough ...

I agree, I'm not able to right click and save any of the pictures in the photo gallery... like I've been able to in the past...

Rex,

just click on the icon circled in red, and see what happens. This is nothing that Gary or OpelGT.com invented, that is a standard feature of your internet browser.

Windows XP Home

I left clicked on the thumbnail in the post above and an enlarged pic sprang to life which, when I right clicked on it, showed a menu including "Save Picture As..." Indeed that works even when right clicking on the thumbnail ...
The wee icons did not appear - but that does happen from time to time on other pics - don't know why. There are both those options of saving - one usually works unless the picture has been copyrighted.

Not quite. You only move your mouse over the picture, then the icon appeares. Then you can click on the icon.

If its not there: what operating system and what browser (name and version) do you use?

Jim, what you did was a little different. You loaded my picture in an otherwise empty browser window. Here the standard Windows-right-click works. Try the same while being in a members album, or in a photo gallery. As I see it, the html code of those pages prevent the right-click from working, which is OK because the move-over-and-click-the-icon-method works anyway and is even one click less to do.

I'm on this page in the gallery
Opel Photo Gallery - Opel Photo Gallery

example: picture 184 on this page, double click left button on mouse on picture it enlarges then either roll mouse curser over pic in center or else right click mouse and in top left hand corner of the picture a little icon pops up click on the icon that looks like an older 3 1/2 inch floppy disc and save function menu pops up appears then save to hard drive if you choose.

I just did this at work using windows 2000 and it worked here as well as at my home earlier.

Running Vista?

I am using Vista, and I can`t right click and save either. 2000 is different from Vista. I used 2000 before, and I like that OS much better than Vista.

Just tested a bit, and you can save if you`re running opera browser, but not in firefox and IE. From my computer at least.

Hmm, no option to "save as" with WinXP now. I know Gary loaded a new photo gallery program, and it now opens the photos similar to how the Classified Ads do. Gary, can the settings be modified to allow photos to be saved, or does the new program not allow this?

I think it has more to do with the browser than the OS. I've got Vista but running Netscape 7.2 and by right clicking on the pics, I get a pulldown menu with the Save as... that others have gotten.

I agree. It has to be the browser and not the OS in this case. As said earlier, running Vista, and I tried three different browsers, and it worked when I tried Opera, but not with IE and Firefox. Netscape I don`t have, but since it worked for you, Ron, I guess it will for others as well.

Solution?

I am having the same problem, but maybe I am just doing something wrong.
I have a dual boot computer. When I am looking at pictures in the members photos, I can't save (right click) them in Vista, using Mozilla. I can't right click the thumbnail either. Then I rebooted and similarly couldn't right click the photos in Windows XP. Then I tried using Netscape instead of Mozilla and I had the same issue. When I am looking at the photos, I can find no option for saving them. Maybe there is something else we need to do to save pictures with this new browser.

Thanks for suggesting that it's the OS. I'm on Mac, and found that if I dragged a photo from the gallery onto the desktop, it was a blank white field when the icon was opened.

I normally use Safari. When I tried it with Firefox, it worked perfectly!
I've found other browser issues to be fixed by using Firefox.

Same story here. As a workaround, you can drag that blank icon into the Mac's "Preview" program to view the image.

Dennis, be careful with Netscape 9. When you click on the attached pics in a post, it will generate a tool bar on top of the screen with the pic url, click on that and the pic will open. Once it's open you have to click on the small "X" at the right end of the tool bar to close it. If you're used to earlier versions of Netscape and use the "X" at the top right of the screen, you'll close the browser. One neat thing about 9 is you can open all the pics by clicking on each one first, then all the url's come up on top and you can view each one separately by closing the small "X" on each tool bar and the next one will open. I'm using 9 with Windows 98SE on the garage computer, I don't need e-mail capability on that one.
