hanging on joining site

hi gary , been asking around incase it was just me but a few are finding the home page hanging when joining the site

on average it is taking me 20 + seconds to join , i get the banner + translate in a box covering the whole width , then it hangs and then i get full page

rest of site is quick as normal , but it can be slow getting back to home page
