Chat Problems

I have been having a hard time loading the chat for some reason this past week. Now when i click that chat button I get this warning msg...

i'm having troubles too. i only see the gray loading screen and it just does nothing. no warning though.

yea i get that when i just go straight to enter chat room...but if i click whos chatting, and once that loads, then try to enter the room...that is when i get the warning...

It looks like the company who hosts the chat is having server problems. One bank of their servers is currently off line.

The Chat host had a massive drive failure last night. They replaced them and things are getting back to normal..

must still be having problems with the server...still cant get into the chat...i have the new java program and everything...

i normaly have no problems getting into chat but last night it took 9 goes to get in , 6 on firefox and 3 on IE

I think Chat is still not back to normal. It often indicates zero 0 chatters when there are actually people in there. Is there anything that can be done?

Any better now Vickie? One other thing. The number in the Navbar refreshes every three minutes so there could be a lag.

What happens when you try to get in? What browser are you using?

im using IE...just says applet chat loading down at the bottom left, and will say that for as long as i let the window open...

My web browser reports "load: class Client not found" error when loading SigmaChat, ICE, or RaiderCSS

The Load class Client not found error is among the most notorious of Java applet error messages, and can be caused by a number of different problems. Usually, this problem indicates that your web browser has downloaded/ cached an invalid copy of our chat software (cache instability or an error in download). Minor network glitches between your computer and RaiderSoft's servers can also cause the problem. Ninety-nine percent of the time, the problem can be resolved by emptying your browsers cache (or Temporary Internet Files), then shutting down all instances of your web browser, and trying again. In rare circumstances, a reboot may be required.

To empty your browser's cache using Microsoft Internet Explorer:
Click on Tools from your browser's main menu.
Select Internet Options
Under the General tab, click Delete Files... in the Temporary Internet files section.
Important: Shutdown all open instances of your web browser.

To empty your browser's cache using Netscape:
Click on Edit from your browser's main menu.
Select Preferences
Select and expand the Advanced category.
Click on Cache
Under Set Cache Options:
Click Clear Memory Cache

When I attempt to open the Java™ applet, I see a blank gray box only.

My Macintosh computer is having various problems with SigmaChat.

SigmaChat is not supported on Macintosh OS 8.x and below systems. SigmaChat runs best on OS X when using MSIE, Netscape or Mozilla. When using OS 9 we recommend using MSIE only. Problems have been reported when using the Safari browser.
I connect to to the internet with AOL, but am unable to login to the Java™ applet.

Do not use the built-in AOL web browser. Instead, use the web browser (usually Microsoft Internet Explorer) that was included with your computer/operating system.
When I click "Login" nothing happens, or a message appears telling me that it cannot connect, or that I have been disconnected. What is wrong?

First, check to make sure that all of our chat servers are online. Check here. If a server is offline, simply wait a few minutes. It is extremely rare that our chat servers go down, and we have automated systems in place to ensure they are back up and running within 10 minutes of going down. Secondly, and the most likely scenario, is that you are using a computer restricted by a firewall; see below:

ok i emptied all the temp files, and didnt work...so now im updating my java...

it also wouldnt work for me on firefox...

I had to go to Java and get the new version too. seemed to work after I downloaded it, no probs as of yet.

Ok. A couple more: Do you have "Cookies" enabled in your browser? Do you have a Pop-up blocker or firewall set up that blocks Java scripts from running?

It would seem like the problem is on your end as there are several in the room right now and all appears to be working.

i know it has to be on my end...im thinking its something messed up with my java program...everything was fine til i upgraded to the newer one, and now i cant get either program to make it run...

In Windows, did you try going to "Control Panel" --> Add/Remove programs and remove the Java program? Then go and download Java again and reload?

ok im not sure whats wrong with my computer not wanting to load it for some reason...if anyone wants to ever talk to me im on aim all the time and my sn is the same as on here...

Ok Gary I got together with spdkilz02 to get his java working which is still throwing him a fit, but when I go to log in to the chat room, Java loads and then I get the connecting to server thing and then connection established and then logging in please wait.... and then after about 2 mins it kicks me back to the OpelGT.com home page. I know the chat room is working because when I logged onto the site there was 3 people in there. I have never had any trouble before. Is there something wrong?

ok well now i can get into the room if i wait and let it load for about 10-15 minutes...but then when im in the room the whole thing is really laggy, when i type it takes forever for it to come up on the screen and when others send a msg it takes awhile for it to come up...also when people leave the room the list takes awhile to reload as well...

All looks normal on the chat server. I just made a few changes to the set up. It loads real fast for me with I.E., Opera and Firefox both in the float or fixed mode.
