I am interested in knowing how many Opel owners/lovers there are here in Canada. How about writing in and let everyone know who you are and where you are located?
My name is John (jpiper) McInnis and I presently live in Ottawa, Ontario. I have a 71 Opel GT. Who is next? John |

Canadian Opeler
In response to Jpiper's call to Canadian Opelers, let me be the next to proclaim that I am a proud Opeler and proud Canadian. I own a 71 GT with lots of good old Canadian rust. My name is Graham Ridley and I live in Ottawa Ontario (613) 841 7444. Although JPIPER and I both live in Ottawa Canada we have yet to meet.

It seems that 71' was a good year for Opel in Canada.
My name is Reiny Packull and I live in Kitchener, ON. I recently purchased a 71' GT. It has been in storage for 11 years, and the body is great. However when you touch any of the wiring, the insulation falls off in your hands. Just finished the brakes (new all the way round). Now on to the wiring nightmare. Perhaps we should organize a meeting next summer?? Get some Canadian Opels together?

Just to check in here, I'm in Calgary. I've been an active lurker around here since then.
I've had a '71 GT since last September. Itis currently in restoration mode with good hopes of being on the road by June. Keith Wilford had contacted me within hours of me owning the car. It tuirns out that the day I got the car (from my girlfriend's aging uncle who was the original owner), I stopped by a vintage car show in a local park to show it to my neighbour who was helping to organizing the show. While it was parked on the street, Keith drove by and his daughter saw my car. Keith dropped off a business card under my windshield. We did not manage to meet that day, but have since otten to know one another. Many thanks to Keith for all his organizational work on this Opel forum! |

Another T.O. Opeler
Another Opel in the T-Dot! '72 with a 2.2 and a Getrag 5-speed. Off the road right now with a bruised nose.
Rionart, is that you Rob? I think we met a couple of years ago out in missisauga, there were several GTs getting together and you were there I think... |

I just found this site recently. Very glad I did. It has made the decision for me on what to do with my Opel GT. Anyway my picture is up and hope to meet someone on the Island here who owns one. I keep getting "hey I saw an Opel at the ....." The only one I have seen was an abysmal mess. No matter.

Calling Toronto Opelers....and anyone else willing to travel..
Thanks Gary for the new Avitar!!
OK Guys, it's August already....and what have we done this year to meet up???? Let's try to organise something for the month of Aug. I'll step up to the plate with a venue...my place! How does a Sunday afternoon sound....I'll lay on tea/coffee, softies (probably some cold beer in the fridge...but I don't want anyone bending their baby on the way home!)and fire up the barbie. So...location is in Scarborough (but a nice part...lol), first thing we need is a date...how about the 24th?? Reply here if your interested, and then I can sort out some more details. I know there will be 6 Manta's here for starters....3 of which are actually road legal now...WooHoo!! Anyway, let me know what you think... Rob. |

I think I can make it. My GT hasn't seen the light of day this year, so it's due for a ride. Of the two weekend days, you've picked one that fits. We have a birthday party planned for the Saturday, but Sunday is open. I'll bring the birthday boy - I'm sure he'll get a kick out of it.
Senen. '71 GT in Hamilton, Ontario P.S. I don't normally check this board, so until you posted to the ClassicOpels group I didn't know you were planning this... |

Hey, I just imported a 73 from Nebraska, the body is sound but needs some work. The resto is scheduled to take 2 years, I hope that it goes faster though. I currently live in Northern Ontario, but the wife left me so I'm looking for a nice place for me and my Opel. This is my 3 rd gt, I have also had a 71 and a 72. I would love an all Canadian Opel rally in the future, that would be a show. Happy Opelling to all.
