Unanswered: BMW 5-spd shifter for Getrag 240?

In an ever on-going search for parts, especially Getrag parts, I came across this on a european site. I was wondering if these shifter could be modified to work on the 240's for Opels?

I don't see why not. But you'd need that rod that goes from the shifter end to the tranny of course. And you'd have to either shorten the heck out of it all, or cut and rebuild the tunnel and move your e-brake handle (or shorten it like I did).

Gene,
I don't see why it won't work with some modifications. Marty has picked me up some 320i 5 speed shifters just for that purpose, to use on my 240 Getrags. I have three to do and the only thing that I can see that will be needed is the shifter, nylon bushing, the bushing retainer, and the linkage pieces between the shifter and tranny(which may need a few modifications themselves). Then fabricate the mounting bracket to fit the 240 Getrag, next weld the busing retainer in place, the shorten the linkage and you are done. Sounds easy at this moment, but I will know once I get started on fabricating how easy it will or won't be.
