Unanswered: GT rear axle upgrade to handle 320 HP

Hi friends,
As you know, my GT should be stronger as the original one.
I hope 320HP with a 2.0L DOHC Turbo.
I need to modify the rear axle to make it stronger.
I find the solution for the Torque tube and his shaft, but it's not enough.....
I have to change the differential.
Who knows what kind of differential I can put into the original case?
a Ford V8 differential, ?????
What do you think ?
Have you experiment with this problem??

many thanks

Marc

marc look for the posts about using the rover SD1 diff and swop the drive shafts and tubes (i will look for it too ) this will give you the larger ,stronger diff assembly to handle the power and look stock ,,ish or you can look for the thread on fitting a bmw rear axle for good ideas

It's all been done, it's all covered in other threads. My personal favorite was the BMW 318 IRS transplant. Easiest would be the Camaro Saginaw. A popular one seems to be a Toyota.

SD1 Rover Torque Tube Diff Conversion

Marc,
Have a look att he Word Doc attached to my Post #11 in this thread:

http://opelgt.com/forums/showthread....light=SD1+diff

That may help you as the Rover diff should be quite readily available in the UK/Europe. The document originally cam from a UK Manta V8 site somewhere .......
