Just goes to show what a great deal Stan gave me on the brand new 4.22's WITH locked carrier and all the bearings. $580 for all.
Who is G. Keller?
The 4.71 would be interesting, should I be able to get close to 8000 rpm. That's about 6.45 final ratio in third gear, I'm presently at 5.76, 6500 rpm.
Not today. Thanks, Ron.

From all the research I was doing about a year ago, $1000 to $1500 is a little higher or a little less than they run elsewhere. Risse Motorsports quoted me $880 plus freight (January 10, '05 exchange rate) for 4.75,5.00, 5.14 or 5.28... This was the best deal, but my calculations were that 4.75 was too much gear. 4.30 was what I wanted, settled for the super deal on the 4.22 but it is a tad tall...
3.89 can be had in junkyards, I was offered the entire Impulse diff/axles/brakes for $175 from a dismantler in Idaho.
Any way you look at it, changing gears in an Opel is expensive, even if you get the gears for free. It is obscene what the bearings cost.

Have you seen this site on UK eBay?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OPEL-MANTA-B-A...QQcmdZViewItem

I am pretty sure that Manta B diffs use the same bearings as GT and Impulse ones do .....
The gasket alone is $US15 in your neck of the woods!
