Unanswered: about toyota rear end, or rear ends in general

just considering options for the manta when i start digging into the manta project soon and decided the toyota rear end seems like my best bet. just wondering what the best gear ratio would be since these are available with a variety of ratios. it will be in a car around 200-250 whp & wtq, wanting to be able to keep the revs relatively low on the highway (not above 4000 going 130-140km/h... think thats around 85-90mph?) but still be able to throw you back in the seat when the time comes

what do you all think?

Lots of Considerations ....

With an overdrive 5th gearbox you can use 3.9:1 or even 4.11:1 gears and still get reasonable milage on the InterState
With a 4-speed you need to stay closer to the original 3.44:1
Tyre size has an effect too!

That would be a decent one to have, if it has the 3.73 gears it's a 7.5" rear axle. Not as strong as the 8", but you can put 400 hp through it just the same. Same basic guts as the first gen Supra turbo IIRC. The 2wd rear axle width is about 7/8" wider than a stock Manta rear axle.

Do we have an actual list of the dimensions from outside hub to outside hub for all the different rears? On any of the threads?

If not can anyone fill this out - maybe even with teh center to center of the lower spring perches..

GT:

Manta:

Isuzu Impulse:

BMW 325i :

Toyota Truck (2x4):

Nissan 240sx :

Feel free to any any others you all know...

Charles
