i thinks theres oh what 30 odd threads about V8 gt's and can it be done , time to search the engine swop forum
and the performance forum a general answer is any engine of any size will go in all it takes is skill or money if you have one or the other it can be done until i found damage in it beyond that which was worth fixing i was putting a V12 in my gt as i say skill or money is all it takes if only being done for the sound then a V6 or straight 6 might be an easier option for you

Nothing beats the sound of a V8
V6 is not as long as a 4 in line but a bit wider, there would be a good front space to enhance cooling, with a 6 in line you would have to change a lot in the front of the car [jmtcw] BTW what is the smallest V8 and in which car is it used?????

Heavy!
The 2.5 litre Daimler V8 is a very heavy motor with a large cast iron block and wide 'Hemi' heads - about 200 lbs heavier than the larger capacity (3.5 to 5.2 litre!!) Buick/Rover all-alloy V8. Also extremely expensive to get parts for it.
