Unanswered: Datsun engine
the turbo from the 280zx series, if you know what I am talking about. It's quite a bulky engine and the 2.8 is pretty hefty. I own a '81 280zx and love it dearly

The Datsun is a straight 6, the GT engine bay was built for a straight 4. I'm sure you could get it to fit, but not without a good deal of cutting and fabricating... and then there would be the issues of suspension and drive line modifications... Not saying it CAN'T be done...

Yeah but i've really taken a liking to what i see and I'm thinking about getting it. Is it posssible to take a 1.9 and turbo it? i'm new, i don't know if this has been asked before
What about a nissan sr engine, I'm thinking the SR20DET from a S13 S13 SR20DET Last edited by thetremendoustim; 01-10-2008 at 02:37 PM. |

If your interested in seeing how the SR20 fits and what kind of work it entails then check out the "A Call for SR20 Documentation" thread on this forum. Another option if your thinking Nissan is the CA18DET. It puts out more power than the old 280ZX 2.8L and is slightly smaller and also cheaper than the SR20DET.

Wonder around this site and try out the "Search" feature up on the tool bar. Both turbos and Nissan engines have been discussed.

Yes, Tim you've been smitten by the GT's looks, sorry, there is no cure, you'll have to buy and play with it. I suggest you get it running with the Opel motor first and enjoy while you ponder and plan for a swap, if you still must fine, have at it, but enjoy it for a while as is. Tell us more about this siren (the Opel, not the mistress).
