It's the same block as the Euro engines that came in the Kadett E so yeah, it should bolt in fairly easily. I know nothing about the 1.6 that came in those, is it Opel or is it Korean? What you really should do is get a 2.0 liter 16v XE "redtop" engine out of the UK and put that in there. That's what I always wanted to do.

Be warned, it makes a mess and a lot of smoke so have plenty of ventilation. Trust me, it works. I used to restore old British cars.

The 1.6 is a true Opel, so is the 2.0 in the 89-90 LeMans. The C20XE (2.0-16V) with 150HP is a direct bolt-in, but I suggest to upgrade the gear box too (F20 5-speed, standard on the C20XE). Alternatively, there is also the C20LET, basically the same engine, but turbocharged and 204HP original, or easily up to 300HP with chip tuning, different cams and an intercooler. Use a modified F28 gear box with it: modified from 4x4 to front wheel drive, its a common thing in Europe and also drops in as it was always there. And, the F28 is a 6-speed...

Everything in the car is made in Kor. The car is all German in design. I have the Bosch H4 Headlights from Germany. The 1.6 motor is the same as the German motor, but from what I understand there is a small block and a big block, this is the small block.
I am more interested what I can bolt in from an American car. |

"Bolt in" like in old engine out, new engine in: nothing.
With lots of fabrication you can make a BBC fit in a shoe box. Well, thinking about it, the 3.0-V6 from a Cadillac Catera fits in with minor modifications. You still need a different gear box - the Opel F28 from Germany... Dieter |

Not So Newb Anymore

I started out thinking I wanted to put something different in my Opel GT and then I pulled the engine out started thinking what all would have to be cut or done away with entirely well long story short I am building a 2.0 for the GT. Just too much stuff to fab. I have been down that road before and it's always more than you started out thinking it would be. My original idea was to shoehorn a 350 in there! Narrow a Ford 9in. you get the idea it snowballs from there.
