Answered: Opel Rekord c coupé 1970

Hi guys,

First of all, i am new to this forum and have been reading A LOT of posts for the past 2 weeks. It's realy amazing all the knowledge that's in here!

I've started restoring a rekord c coupé, now my question is... What engine can i swap into it? I'm planning on FULLY restoring the original engine, but only after the car is road-ready and when i have another engine to put in it.
(in case my old daily-use car breaks down)

A few things i would appreciate as an (temporary) engine replacement
-below 1000euros, make that 1400 dollars
-only mild cutting in the rekord, because i want to restore it
-fuel injection for some economy
-BHP around 90 or more

Current engine CIH 1.9SH

I will take a look around and post some engines i could get a hold on

Thank you very very much

the ohc from a manta b and 5 speed gear box with fuel injection is cheap enough for your needs and has more power than the 90 asked for (think its 130 but not sure )

the 2.0 / 2.2 / 2.4 cih engines from various opel models like the record, senator, frontera are all direct bolt in with no cutting

the red top twin cam engines from later opels are almost bolt ins with more changes to mountings than much else

all should be within budget

Engine swap

First of all, welcome to the site and thank you for the compliment about the information here. If your car came with the 4 cyl. CIH engine you can fit anything from a 1.9 to a 2.2 without much modification at all. The 2.2 FI would be my choice. If your car has a CIH 6 cyl. you can swap anything from a 2.6 to a 3.0 without modification other than fitting it for the FI in both cases.

. . . je moet je eventjes in verbinding stellen met Eddie in Belgié [edca_opelgt] of Erick in Nederland [2 Fast 4 U] . . . zij kunnen je daar waarschijnlijk het beste mee helpen.
