Unanswered: 2.2E EFI CIH engine getting too much petrol

Hai,
Im from Holland and i have a rather big question.

My GT from 1972 used to drive very well with the 2.2E CIH engine inside, but since i had the GT repainted the engine didn't run for like 7 months.

Now the engine won't start because its getting way to much petrol (gaseline or whatever you call it in english).
The engine just overflows with it so much that its even dripping into the carter (oil).

Anyone have any idea in what this could be ?

I haven't changed anything according to wires or board computers

Thnx
Greets from Holland

If it has sit up for a while the first thing I would suspect is the needle & seat hung open inside the carburator or a piece of trash not allowing it to close.

Or injectors stuck if you kept fuel injection on it. Petrol I reconize, carter for oil I would never have guessed. Learn something new everyday.

Our petrol doesn't hold up very well in storage any more. You may want to check to see if there is an additive that you can use to freshen it up a bit. If a car is going to be parked for an extended period of time it is recommended to add some type of petrol stabilizer to it.

The car has new fuel in it, so thats not the case.

The fire sequence is good to, sparkplugs work.

If the sparkplugs are cleaned, the car starts and runs but very very badly, once turned of you need to clean the sparkplugs again before it even tries to etempt to fire up.

Sorry for my bad english ....

Opelnut10 ..its an injection system so there aint no carb.

I'd say the old gas that sat in the injectors may have gummed them up. Fresh or clean plugs are barely good enough to keep it running. Once fouled or flooded with too much petrol they don't get the job done. There are injector cleaning kits that allow your car to run off pure cleaner to clean the injectors. Someone on the site explained how they cleaned theirs without any special equipment. I believe this is your problem.

I would pull the air intake hose off of the AFM (air flow meter) and make sure it isn't stuck open.
